Semi-secluded and right on the Caddo River!
We were looking for a cabin right on the Caddo River and discovered the River Shack. They call it a shack, but it was really nice. The small cabin was comfortable, the AC worked great, the location was very quiet and surprisingly secluded for being right on the busy Caddo River. It was like having our own park right on the river and we didn’t have to share it with anyone else!

Cozy, clean, and comfortable cabin! Loved the privacy of the outdoor tub and riverbank while enjoying great views of the Ouachita Mountains. Swimming and kayaking in the beautiful clear water and having the river all to ourselves was a great experience. Our dog loved the freedom of being off-leash for the weekend. Perfect secluded cabin for our 1st anniversary!

Better than any shack I’ve ever seen! We spent our days and most of the nights in the river just outside the door from the cabin. The screened in porch was a perfect spot to relax in the morning, and the view from the bedroom made us feel like we didn’t even need to leave bed to enjoy the property! The “shack” is just 2 miles from Glenwood on smooth pavement.

My Fiancé and I adored the shack! The scenery was absolutely beautiful. You could hear and see the river from the bedroom and porch! The outdoor bathtub was a lovely addition and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could need and more. The space was so cozy and the location was close to Hot Springs and Mt Ida which was exactly what we were looking for. We would absolutely stay again.

More information:

Location: Just 5 minutes to Glenwood on paved road! Many other popular destinations are less than 45 minutes away, including four lakes, Hot Springs, Quartz and Diamond mines. Kayak the clear waters of the Caddo River right from The Shack! Or use one of the shuttling services for longer floats. The river at The Shack is perfect for swimming, wading, or kayaking!
Seclusion: This stretch of river is undeveloped across the river and the nearest neighbors can’t see into the property through the trees. From mid-Sept until early May, you will enjoy the river by yourself most of the time. It can get busy with tubes and kayaks on warm weekends and holidays. It’s downright crazy on Memorial and July 4th weekends. This 2 acres is not nearly as secluded as our Thunder Mountain property, but it still feels private and you won’t be bothered by others most of the time.
Kayaks: You will have free access to two kayaks! The river flows gently at the property and is a great place to try kayaking even if you’ve never done it before.
River Info: The Caddo River is a very popular kayaking and tubing river in Arkansas. During warm weather, you will probably see (or hear) people floating by occasionally. In the summer and especially around holidays, it can get a little crazy as hundreds of people party past the shack. However, between mid-Sept and early May you will often enjoy the entire river all to yourself! Cell service works on the river from here to Glenwood.
Pets: A pet is allowed as long as they do not chew on furniture, scratch or tear screens, and do not leave excessive fur. There is a pet fee that must be paid at the time of booking. Pets should not be left unattended unless in a crate, they should not be allowed to bark, and should be kept with you at all times. The road next to the property has light traffic and there is no fence.
Other amenities: There is a firepit with some chairs, screened-in porch with seating and an outdoor tub, full kitchen, living room with a smart TV, full bathroom with large shower, and a Queen bed in the bedroom. The Shack (cabin) is set up like a studio apartment with no door separating the bedroom from the rest of the house.
Fast Wi-Fi – The fiber Wi-Fi (free) is usually reliable and great for streaming, remote working, or just cruising the web.
Security Cameras: There are two security cameras outside of the Shack. Guests are given instructions to turn them off. There may also be a game (trail) camera near the edge of the property that helps us watch for deer, bobcats, coyotes, and occasionally black bear.
Check in / Check out: Arrive any time after 1pm on the day of your reservation. Instructions for access are given to our registered guests. Check out is any time before 11am on your last day. Late check out and early check ins are often available at no charge.
Pricing Information: Pricing varies by time of year. Direct booking will save you about 15% compared with booking through Airbnb, VRBO, or Hipcamp. Rates range from $90/night to $140/night plus taxes and cleaning fee. If bringing a pet, the additional fee is $75 for your stay.
